For the handful of Rice Owl fans (last available info: 2008) that we have out there, coach David Bailiff announced a handful of coaching shifts on his staff Monday.
The biggest of those moves is that cornerbacks coach Chris Thurmond has been promoted to defensive coordinator, following up on a Houston Chronicle report from last week. Thurmond replaces Chuck Driesbach, who was fired in December.
Other coaching moves on the Owls staff include offensive coordinator John Reagan, who will shift responsibilities from tight ends to running backs; former RB coach Rick LaFavers was also fired in December with Driesbach. Graduate assistant David Sloan has been promoted to Reagan’s coaching spot.
Additionally, the Owls hired Larry Hoefer as safeties coach.
