UNLV promotes two, demotes both coordinators in staff shuffle

When UNLV takes to the field next month for spring practice, the Rebels will do so with a significantly revamped coaching staff.

Head coach Bobby Hauck announced Tuesday that Rob Phenicie and Kraig Paulson, offensive and defensive coordinators the past two seasons, respectively, have had their coordinator titles stripped but will continue on Hauck’s staff as quarterbacks coach and outside linebackers/assistant head coach, respectively.

In their place, Hauck looked to his own staff; Brent Myers will now serve as offensive coordinator as well as continuing to coach tight ends while J.D. Williams will take over as defensive coordinator along with continuing his duties overseeing the secondary.

“These changes will allow us to freshen our approach on both sides of the football,” Hauck said in a statement. “They also mean we will have important continuity at all of our position groups as we progress into next season.”

Both Myers and Williams are entering their third year with the Rebels.
