Getty ImagesWith the hiring of former Memphis head coach Larry Porter made official Friday, Todd Graham completed his first coaching staff at Arizona State.
And, with all of the holes now filled, Graham has released the responsibilities and titles each of the assistants will hold in 2012.
Starting with the most recent hire, and as he has at every one of his assistant coaching stops, Porter will be in charge of Sun Devil running backs. Perhaps the biggest surprise was that Porter, one of the top recruiters in the country during his time with LSU, wasn’t named ASU’s recruiting coordinator.
As previously reported, Graham’s coordinator’s are also set: Mike Norvell (offensive), Paul Randolph (defensive) and Ron West (co-defensive). Norvell will also serve as quarterbacks coach, while Randolph and West will carry additional titles of senior associate head coach/defensive line and inside linebackers, respectively.
Here are the remaining five members of Graham’s inaugural ASU staff and their titles:
Chris Ball – defensive backs, defensive passing game coordinator
Joe Lorig – outside linebackers, defensive special teams coordinator
Bob Connelly – assistant head coach, offensive line
DelVaughn Alexander – wide receivers, passing game coordinator
Chip Long – tight ends, recruiting coordinator
only a fool would work as an asst coach for graham. I feel for the kids that have to play for him. he’ll be gone in two-three years tops
if i’m reading this right, there are 7 assistant coaches carrying the title of coordinator.
what did the 2 other assistants do to get in graham’s doghouse to not be called coordinators?
the everyone gets a trophy coaching staff.
I would NEVER encourage my son to play for this man. He represents everything that is bad about college athletics. Talk about a hypocrite, he preaches LOYALTY and then leaves after one season! If he wasn’t happy with the contract Pitt was paying him, he should not have accepted it. He is a fake, phony, fraud who should not be allowed around college students. He’s a disgrace to the profession. BTW, I am NOT a PITT Fan!!!
man some of yall is straight idiots and no nothin about how duties are assigned just wanna make lame ass comments just for people to like what you say just sad man
Wait, you guys wouldn’t let your kids play for Todd Graham, but what about Saban? That’s okay?
Interesting DelVaughn is the passing game coordinator when last year was the first in forever that UW had anything resembling a decent passing attack, and that was with a graduate transfer QB. Alexander’s receivers haven’t really been impact performers most of the time.
I live near Houston and know many Rice football players/staff that were here when graham was the HFC. graham had an asst equip mgr and asst trainer that wee at Rice for over 20 years fired and brought in his guys, pretty standard procedure. then he leaves after one season at Rice. did the same at Pitt. he’s a complete jerk
@burntorange
Apples and oranges. Saban has remained at Alabama for 4 seasons now. Where is he going? Believe me, I’m not condoning a coach who recruits a player, gets him on campus, then realizes the young man isn’t the level he was expecting and has little potential to reach that level. However, those instances are few and far behind. Graham comes in, does very little, and then moves on for more money! Hell, we don’t even know if the guy is a good coach or not because he doesn’t hang around long enough to find out. What we do know, is that he delivers a solid “sales pitch” then doesn’t back up what he says. That translates to being a schmuck IMO.
