I was unaware of that info, nor did I even think to look that up because the only team I care about is USC. It’s amazing how much a program can focus on trying to tear down the reputation of one person just so they can assign the blame anywhere but on themselves. Reminds me a little of LeBron leaving Cleveland and everyone in that city becoming so afraid of what will happen to them that they bash on LeBron. I will always focus on the good that Reggie Bush did for our program; not the bad. I still root for him today in Miami. As a USC fan I will never understand the concept of rooting for another team but your own. All those bumper stickers that say “my 2 favorite teams are UCLA and anyone who plays USC” are so childish. I am a fan of all Pac 12 teams in the post season and when they play non-conference schools. However, this one particular Tennessee fan decides to root for UCLA because their rival snagged Lane Kiffin. It never even occurred to me to root for all the NFL teams that are in the same division as Seattle Seahawks just because they took Carroll. It’s probably because I’m an adult.

Taking the time to read the 24 Aug 2011 NCAA infractions committee report you’ll discover that the sanctions imposed were entirely related to significant infractions by the Tennessee basketball program. While alleged violations also surfaced about the football program (the source was probably someone from Tennessee carrying a grudge about Coach Kiffin’s departure), the NCAA infractions committee concluded “that the evidence was insufficient to support findings of major violations”.

That said the noted “violations” by the football program amounted to 12 phone calls made by student interns to recruits and $40 gas money given to a student intern for costs associated with an automobile trip between Knoxville and Duncan, SC (356 miles rount trip).

However I’m glad to know that @vols84 will be rooting for UCLA. They need the support.

Re-strengthen your credibility by focusing on your own program. Don’t worry about Kiffin or USC. USC’s season past year is perfect example. Inky focused on ourselves. Used only a handful of players, freshmen linebackers, our star running back only started 4 games and we ran the table. By the end of the season, we were nearly unstoppable.
