Mike Leach may have moved on to Washington State to start a new chapter in his coaching career, but his legal battle with Texas Tech over his 2009 termination remained very much alive.
That is, until the Texas Supreme Court denied Leach’s appeal in his wrongful termination lawsuit against Tech. The ruling came earlier this morning, according to the Associated Press. The appeal was initiated by Leach and his lawyers in response to a ruling by the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals last year that threw out Leach’s breach of contract claim. Leach was trying to show that he was unfairly terminated, but could not receive any sort of monetary relief.
Leach was fired in 2009 amid accusations that he mistreated former receiver Adam James when James had a concussion. Leach says he was due for a $800,000 bonus the day after he was fired, and that was the reason behind the dismissal.
