Duke loses starting LB to torn ACL

An ACL issue for Duke’s Kelby Brown that first surfaced back in late 2010 has unfortunately reared its head yet again.

The linebacker, the Blue Devils announced, has undergone successful surgery to repair a torn ACL in his right knee. The press release stated that Brown reinjured the knee earlier this month, although was left unsaid. Also left unsaid? Brown’s official status for the 2012 season.

Brown had originally injured the knee during a November 2010 game against Georgia Tech.

The soon-to-be junior has played in 19 games the past two seasons, starting 17 of those contests. He’s totaled 12.5 tackles for loss and three sacks during that time.
