Following up on reports that surfaced Monday, LSU has officially announced the hiring of a former Tigers cornerback to Les Miles‘ coaching staff.
According to the press release, Corey Raymond has been added as the defending SEC champion’s defensive backs coach. The move comes a handful of days after Raymond said he would not be leaving Nebraska for his alma mater.
“We are happy to bring Corey back to his alma mater, a place where he was a great college player,” Miles said. “I feel like Corey is exactly what our secondary needed. He has proven expertise in teaching defensive backs and he will also do a great job mentoring our players. I think he’s a perfect fit for our program.”
The 2011 season was Raymond’s first with the Cornhuskers. Prior to that, he was at Utah State for two seasons.
From 1988-91, Raymond was a cornerback at LSU. He also served as an intern/assistant at the school from 2006-08.
Good move for Raymond and LSU. He is in a better place!
A good move for LSU and for Corey. Welcome back! Now for some changes on the offense (I think SouthernPatriots is beating that horse, but it is worth repeating).

Corey grew up and lived just a hop, skip, and a jump from us. My family and I followed him for many years. He has always returned to our area, encouraging the school children to do well in school and be responsible. He had a great career at LSU, and then followed Coach Pellini. He said his choice to leave Pellini was a very hard choice but that he wanted to return home.
Welcome home Corey!
