Stephen Morris now out for Miami spring practice

Early this morning, JT noted that Miami quarterback Stephen Morris was expected to be limited in spring practices as he recovered from back surgery. InsideTheU.com reported that Morris would not participate in contact drills, but would be able to throw in some capacity.

Turns out, that was a generous prognosis.

The Hurricanes’ pre-spring depth chart, released Wednesday evening, shows Morris will be out entirely for spring drills. Memphis transfer Ryan Williams will start spring as the No. 1 quarterback, with Gray Crow listed as the backup and Preston Dewey the third string QB.

Morris was expected to be the leading candidate to replace Jacory Harris heading into spring practice, as Morris served as Harris’ backup last season. Morris is expected to address his offseason surgery/spring availability on Thursday.
