Last month, Mike Leach dismissed a Washington State linebacker following an arrest on an assault charge.
This month, another player at that position has suffered a similar fate.
According to KXLY-TV in Pullman, Sekope Kaufusi was arrested earlier this week and charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. A search warrant, the result of a weed-like odor emanating from Kaufusi’s residence, was executed Tuesday night and resulted in the charges.
As a result of the arrest, a Wazzu spokesperson confirmed that Kaufusi has been dismissed from the football program.
In 11 games as a redshirt sophomore last season, Kaufusi finished tied for third in sacks with two and fifth in tackles for loss with four.
