A surprise to no one who follows San Diego State, Oregon State transfer Ryan Katz is emerging as the quarterback to beat in spring practices.
Two weeks in spring drills and Katz has been taking the most snaps for the Aztecs. With 11 days before SDSU’s spring game, Katz will likely continue to get a majority of the reps.
“His production last week gives him the reps with the first team today,” SDSU offensive coordinator Andy Ludwig said Tuesday.
Sophomore Adam Dingwell is also getting a lot of snaps, possibly becoming the No. 2 QB for the Aztecs.
Katz was one of three high-profile transfers to SDSU, the other two being former USC running back Dillon Baxter and receiver Brice Butler. Baxter, as JT noted about a week ago, was booted from the team as his off-the-field issues didn’t miss a beat in the transfer.
