Updated: Gators get good news, bad news for start of practice

With Florida kicking off spring practices tomorrow, coach Will Muschamp shared some good news and bad news when it comes to who he will have available in the coming months.

First, the good news: offensive lineman James Wilson will get a sixth year of eligibility after applying for a waiver last month. Wilson has played a total of 38 games during his time with the Gators -- 12 last season -- and started a total of five games, four of which came in 2009. Wilson redshirted in 2007, but missed the final 10 games of the 2010 season due to a left knee injury.

With a sixth year upcoming for Wilson -- barring another unforeseen circumstance -- the offensive lineman could see more playing time as he is currently listed as the No. 1 guard along the Gators O-line.

Now, the bad news: Muschamp he expects to have eight players out for spring practice. They are cornerbacks Jeremy Brown (knee) and Marcus Roberson (knee), defensive tackle Dominique Easley (knee), defensive end Kedric Johnson (shoulder), offensive linemen Cole Gilliam Tommy Jordan and Ian Silberman (shoulder), linebackers Neiron Ball and Lerentee McCray (shoulder).
