Missouri quarterback James Franklin will be a focal point for the Tigers as they head into the SEC. For now, Franklin’s focus is simply on staying healthy.
Though Franklin is in a green no-contact jersey for spring practices, the junior injured his throwing shoulder during Tuesday’s practice while diving for a fumble along the sidelines. When he emerged from the pile of players, Franklin was bent over in discomfort and called in back up QB Corbin Berkstresser.
Franklin would sit out the rest of practice.
“We’ll have to take a look,” said coach Gary Pinkel about the injury. “He just tweaked his shoulder a little bit. We’ll see what happens.”
The injury was later classified as a shoulder sprain and Franklin is expected to be back sometime this spring. Exactly when is still TBD.
The Tigers have some depth at QB with Berkstresser and junior Ashton Glaser, although Glaser was arrested over the weekend for failing to appear in court to deal with a traffic violation.
