Army adds assistant from Georgetown

With March Madness officially kicking tipping off this afternoon -- follow all of the latest hoops happenings at CollegeBasketballTalk.com, by the way -- how about a little blurb involving to some extent a school known more more for its hardwood success?

In a press release Thursday morning, Army announced that Luke Thompson has been added to Rich Ellerson‘s coaching staff. Thompson will serve as Army’s special teams coordinator and fullbacks coach.

For the past six seasons, Thompson was the special teams coordinator and linebackers coach for the Georgetown Hoyas. Prior to that, he had served on coaching staffs at, among other stops, Harvard, Holy Cross and Amherst College.

While Thompson will assume his new duties immediately, those duties won’t involve spring practice. The Black Knights were the first Div. 1-A (FBS) to open spring practice and held its annual spring game March 9.
