UCF WR suspended from team activites after arrest

Yesterday morning, news came that UCF receiver J.J. Worton had been arrested over the weekend for a St. Patrick’s Day incident gone awry (go figure) that resulted in Worton reportedly hiding under a car and resisting arrest.

That incident has now resulted in a suspension from head coach George O’Leary, which I believe is the Webster’s Dictionary definition of irony.

O’Leary said today that Worton has been suspended from all team activities for the spring and will take further action once all the facts in the case are collected.

“I’ve suspended him from all team functions for the rest of the spring until I get further information about what really took place,” O’Leary said Tuesday. “I’m trying to decipher that.”

Worton was hit with felony charges of resisting arrest with violence and battery on a peace officer.

Worton was the team’s leading receiver last season with 531 yards and four touchdowns.
