Son of San Antonio Spurs legend commits to Irish

The son of San Antonio Spurs legend David Robinson could have gone the route of his father and made an immediate name for himself at the Naval Academy.

Instead, Corey Robinson, a three-star receiver according to Rivals.com, will head to another football independent — Notre Dame. Robinson committed to the Irish yesterday after receiving offers from Iowa, Kansas, Navy (duh), North Carolina and Wake Forest.

“I made the decision on the way back home [from Wake Forest],” the 6-foot-4 Robinson told ESPN.com. “My family and I were talking about it. We discussed it, and we prayed about it. I just felt that Notre Dame was the best choice for me. It always felt like the best choice.

“There was something about it. The coaches, the recruits, the strong academics. … I loved everything about it.”

Robinson caught 42 passes for 660 yards and 10 touchdowns during last season.

Pretty cool. Even as a USC and Lakers fan, I always liked David Robinson. Never hurts to have a WR that is 6’4″

Great father, so the acorn does not fall far from the tree. Good fit for him & ND. I will enjoy watching him

He will like it at ND until BK does his female praying -Mantis routine on him and chews off his head.

Didn’t his dad grow late? Or maybe I have that wrong.
