Updated: Clemson AD says UGA series looks likely after all

Earlier this month, the two-game series between Clemson and Georgia, which had been in the works for quite a few years, looked like it was going to get the boot thanks to the ACC’s new nine-game conference schedule agreement.

Dawgs247 reported that it was Clemson who initiated the talks, likely out of concern for maintaining seven home games while keeping the in-state rivalry with South Carolina alive and well.

But in a radio interview with Wes Durham of 790 The Zone in Atlanta, Clemson athletic director Terry Don Phillips said the home-and-home will go on as previously agreed.

The two sides had planned on 2013 and ’14 dates, and it appears that will still be the case. Phillips confirmed those dates to TigerNet.com.

Either way, this is good news for anybody who loves marquee non-conference matchups.
