Updated: Officer who assisted Petrino to be questioned further

When the police report detailing Bobby Petrino‘s motorcycle accident was released Thursday, it stated that Petrino and Jessica Dorrell, the passenger on Petrino’s bike, were taken to an intersection away from the scene of the accident by a family who was waved down for help. At that intersection, the report states Dorrell left in her own vehicle while Petrino was driven to a local hospital by policeman Lance King.

Now, Arkansas police want to know more about Captain King’s involvement in the incident. King, who works security for football program during season, will be submitted to further questioning about the accident and is required to write his own detailed account of what happened.

Below is a statement released by ASP regarding Captain King, courtesy of ArkansasSports360:

“On Thursday afternoon (April 5, 2012) the Arkansas State Police completed its investigation of the motor-vehicle crash involving Robert Petrino and Jessica Dorrell.

Subsequently public inquiries have arisen asking the State Police to offer answers to questions relating to the sequence of events which precipitated State Police Captain Lance King to respond to the Fayetteville location where he met Coach Petrino and any information Captain King may have learned about the crash during conversations with Coach Petrino.

While the inquiries have no direct correlation to the investigation of the motor vehicle crash, the questions are legitimate and worthy of answers.

This afternoon (Friday, April 6, 2012) Captain King has been asked by his supervisor to provide a detailed summary of his involvement with Coach Petrino and other individuals who’ve been identified within the crash investigation.

It is the intention of the Arkansas State Police to have information from the summary which may be shared with the public early next week. What information will be released will depend on what facts Captain King provides to his supervisor.”

Additionally, Arkansas State Police released the 911 phone call made shortly after the motorcycle accident, which describes Petrino as “walking” and “bleeding quite a lot” from his face. The caller also said Dorrell “did not look to be injured.”

During the transmission, the caller said Petrino got in a white SUV and left the scene.

“The rider and the passenger of the motorcycle declined us to call 911,” the caller said. “They got into a vehicle and headed toward the hospital.”

Petrino has been placed on paid administrative leave for the time being by athletic director Jeff Long after it was discovered Thursday that Petrino had not been completely forthright about the details of the accident and Dorrell, with whom it is believed Petrino had a “previous inappropriate relationship.” Dorrell began working in the football offices last week after spending time as an employee at the Razorbacks Foundation.

Dorrell is a former volleyball player for UA.
