Another Irish player joining Weis at Kansas

On the same day that Notre Dame defensive end Aaron Lynch announced he would be transferring from the Irish -- and potentially landing at USF -- it appears the Irish will be down one more defender in 2012.

Both Kansas and Notre Dame announced that linebacker Anthony McDonald will leave the Irish after graduating this spring and join former coach Charlie Weis at Kansas. Since McDonald will be receiving his undergraduate degree, he will be eligible to play for the Jayhawks in 2012.

McDonald joins former Irish quarterback Dayne Crist and tight end Mike Ragone as recent transfers to the Jayhawks. All three will be eligible to play right away.

The linebacker played in 28 games for the Irish during his four seasons in South Bend.

The addition of McDonald gives Kansas 25 players in its 2012 signing class, 14 of which are transfers from either Division 1 schools or from the JUCO ranks.
