Aaron Lynch officially signs with USF

To the surprise of no one, except perhaps his own mother, former Notre Dame defensive end Aaron Lynch has made his much-anticipated move to South Florida official.

Exactly 10 days after it became official that he would be departing South Bend following just one year, USF announced in a release that Lynch had officially joined the team for the 2012 season.

“With Aaron originally being from Florida, we’re very familiar with the kind of player he is,” coach Skip Holtz said. “Aaron had a great freshman season at Notre Dame and we’re excited to welcome him into the Bulls family.”

A Freshman All-American season, to be exact. In 12 games (and six starts) last season, Lynch recorded 33 tackles, 5.5 sacks, seven TFL, 14 pressures and a forced fumble for the Irish. Lynch was one of the prize recruits of Notre Dame’s 2011 class, being listed as the third-best defensive end and 28th-best prospect overall, according to Rivals.com.
