For the 15th time in 17 years, and for the second year in a row, Arkansas and LSU will play the Friday after Thanksgiving, the two schools announced Wednesday.

CBS will broadcast the game at 1:30 p.m. and will take place at Razorback Stadium. The announcement had been rumored for a while.

It’ll be only the second time that the game will be played in Fayetteville, the only other time being in 1992 when the Razorbacks beat the Tigers, 30-6 (Arkansas’ first year in the SEC).

LSU won last year’s matchup 41-17 in Baton Rouge. Both teams enter 2012 with SEC West division and BCS championship expectations.

Gonna be a great game. LSU is a powerhouse, but Arkansas looks pretty good this year.

2nd time since 1992??? A division rival? Does Arkansas have another stadium?

The CBS suits have played around with college football to meet their schedules without much consideration for the traditions and thoughts of the fan bases of each school. With the frequency of these Friday after Thanksgiving changes in schedule (15 of the past 17 years!), the respective fan bases of the Razorbacks and Tigers have become accoustomed to such a time and schedule, but it is sad that the TV gods control so much of college football. The old Wizard of Id, Johnny Hart cartoon: “He who has the gold makes the rules!” is appropriate here. TV bring in the huge revenues and calls the shots.

The Razorbacks have been a real problem for LSU for some years now. Oftentimes, though somewhat unexplicably, LSU overlooks Arkansas, looking to the post-season game(s). They did not do this last season, and we hope they won’t do this in this upcoming season. Lack of focus on the part of LSU may be all that is needed for Arkansas to win another one.

However, we think LSU is poised for another record setting year, this season with a true pro-style QB and with some smarting from the BCS CG, the team should be motivated and focused this season in general and this game at Fayetteville. God willing, and our health is up to it, we will be there, with our whole hog roast on wheels this time!

bradentonbuc: The Razorbacks also play many games at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock. This gives the many fans of Razorback football who are in the Arkansas state legislature, including some powerful boosters, and others in and around Little Rock to be in attendance.

It’s time for LSU-A&M on Thanksgiving night!!! The Aggies are ready to welcome the Bayou Bengals to College Station this Fall to renew a long-dormant series.

It appears that maybe the yearly contest between LSU and Florida may be out, and possibly the last game of the year v. the Razorbacks. Insert A&M.
