MTSU player accused of breaking man’s jaw, arrested for assault

As if the news wasn’t filled with enough athlete arrests, Middle Tennessee defensive end Dearco Nolan decided to add to that list.

According to multiple local media outlets, Nolan was arrested on a charge of aggravated assault last Thursday when he allegedly punched a fellow student in the face, fracturing the student’s jaw, at an off-campus party. The incident itselft reportedly happened roughly six weeks ago.

“One of the students involved in the fight suffered very serious injuries to his face,” said MPD spokesperson Kyle Evans.

Nolan’s future with the team remains up in the air, but coach Rick Stockstill did issue the following statement:

“We are monitoring the situation and take these matters very seriously. These allegations, if proven true, do not reflect the values we stress to our student-athletes.”

Nolan played in 11 games last season, recording 13 tackles and a sack. His court date is June 12.
