Tulane DE suspended following reported drug bust

Good thing we have the ol’ violation of team policy template filed away on standby as Tulane defensive end Lawrence Burl has given us reason to use it once again.

TU coach Curtis Johnson announced today that Burl, a redshirt freshman, was suspended indefinitely for “violating team policy.”

“We have high expectations for our student-athletes at Tulane and we will make no exceptions for any individual,” Johnson said in the statement.

However, Burl was reportedly arrested on May 3 for selling marijuana and possessing a gun. Garland Gillen of WWL-TV tweeted that the amount of pot found on Burl was not “small time.”

Burl would not comment on the specifics of the situation to the New Orleans Times-Picayune.
