UPDATED 5/16 @ 8:55 p.m. ET: Following the arrest of Corbin Berkstresser, the school has confirmed that the backup quarterback is suspended indefinitely.
Depending on his official charges, Berkstresser can work his way back into the rotation, however it should be noted that starting QB James Franklin is still out with a shoulder injury and could continue to be sidelined right up until the start of the season. That leaves the Tigers with just one scholarship QB available for the time being.
So while Berkstresser is in Mizzou’s doghouse, don’t expect him to stay there if the season draws closer and Franklin doesn’t look like he can play.

Overused humor aside, Missouri’s quarterback situation this spring has been no laughing matter. It began when reserve QB Ashton Glaser was arrested in March for an unpaid speeding ticket. Just days later, starting QB James Franklin sustained a sprained shoulder in practice that would eventually require spring-ending surgery.
Now, Franklin’s primary backup is dealing with a legal issue of his own.
The Columbia Tribune reports that Mizzou QB Corbin Berkstresser was arrested early Tuesday morning for leaving the scene of an accident in Columbia. According to the probable cause report, no one was hurt in the collision and Berkstresser admitted his involvement in the incident.
He was taken into custody at 3:34 a.m. and later posted $4,500 bail.
Berkstresser could face a Class D felony for damages to the other vehicle that are estimated to be in excess of $1,000. Normally, leaving the scene of an accident is a class A misdemeanor. Missouri has not commented on the matter yet.
