I’m sure he could find a starting job at “Slippery Rock Tech” but how credible would that be to the NFL scouts? Simply a waste of time.

His father is my favorite football player of all time! I had the horror of being in attendance at the 79 cotton bowl (Joe’s last collage game! Greatest game I ever saw!! He’s a fifth year senior, so he’s likely close to finishing a degree in something (if he hasn’t already), and this’ll be his last season of actually playing football.

I feel sad for him too, but for a different reason. My dad was a construction worker for 40+ years. His dad is JOE MONTANA. My dad lived his life in relative obscurity. This kid has lived his life in a glass house. I can’t even imagine what that has to be like. Money aside, how do you live up to the expectations of others who are waiting for you to be the “next” Montana… literally? The kid is genuinely in a no-win situation. Tough way to go through life, isn’t it?

Truly. Kids like this chase playing time like a dog chases cars (though I have never known a dog to chase a car). My advice: stay at a school, build friendships/relationships, learn the system, enjoy the experience….. Running away, chasing playing time, wastes precious time that you will never get back.
