Tommy Rees pleads not guilty to misdemeanor charges

Quarterback Tommy Rees was one of two Notre Dame players arrested during a May 3 house party and was officially charged with four misdemeanor counts.

As of this morning, we now know where he stands on said charges.

Rees pleaded not guilty to all counts: battery, resisting law enforcement (2) and illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor. The court hearing was brief and neither Rees nor his lawyer spoke with media afterward.

Notre Dame linebacker Carlo Calabrese also had a court hearing this morning, but as expected, was a no-show. Calabrese is facing an intimidation charge.

Rees and Calabrese were reportedly confrontational with police breaking up the party, with Rees having to be subdued and Calabrese apparently telling an officer “my people will get you.” Rees is said to have kneed an officer in the chest area. He is due back in court on June 21.
