Monday offseason one-liners

Bill Stewart AP

Some links from around college football on a Monday…

Brian Bennett of does a phenomenal job of reflecting on his relationship with former WVU coach Bill Stewart.

— The Big Ten released conference schedules for 2015 and ’16.

The SEC could have its own network by 2014.

Chadd Scott of says he misread the Florida State-to-Big 12 signs. Not me. I’m going down with this ship.

— The motion to delay Jerry Sandusky‘s trial again has been denied; it’s still scheduled for June 5.

— The Orlando Sentinel lists five transfers to watch in 2012.

— The ACC needs to roll out a green carpet for Notre Dame, writes Andrew Jones of FOX Sports. Good luck with that…

— Mississippi State coach Dan Mullen knows how to play “Stairway to Heaven” on the piano. The NCAA deems that an awesome unfair recruiting advantage and a loss of 10 scholarships.

Sorry … don’t know how this works. If the SEC gets its own network, does that mean we’ll no longer see our games on ESPN and CBS? Will we have to subscribe to the SEC Network?

Mullen might have an advantage if he could play “Stairway to Heaven” on an electric guitar … or even an air guitar. But piano? That sounds so Vegas lounge singer. Still, I’m sure the NCAA would consider it a violation 😉
