Peeing & fleeing nets indefinite suspensions for Ohio State duo

Buckeyes Stoneburner Arrrested Football

Urinating in public is one thing.  Taking said leak and then running from the law?

That’ll get you in trouble every single time, as a pair of Ohio State Buckeyes learned over the past couple of days.

According to the Toledo Blade, offensive lineman Jack Mewhort and tight end Jake Stoneburner (pictured) have been suspended indefinitely by the football program.  Or, more specifically, that’s what the attorney representing the players stated.

Shockingly, the attorney also hopes that the legal version of common sense will prevail.

“”Hopefully we can sit down with the Shawnee Hills police department and the prosecutors and come up with a resolution that everyone can be satisfied with,” Columbus attorney Mark Collins told the paper.

OSU has yet to address the situation, let alone the official punitive measures Stoneburner and Mewhort may or may not be facing beyond a suspension.

Of course they were caught…BIG10 speed.

Is there really anybody among us that didn’t drunkenly run from the police after peeing in public while in college? The fact that they were caught is the shocking part of this.

My vote is to commence wrist-slapping so we can all move along.

C’mon man… peeing and fleeing? Seriously?

    How horrible!!!… NOT.

    Foolish… but a non-issue.

They were caught because they stopped running.

I don’t ondone the behavior, but this college and they just got caught doing what lots of college students do after a few beers and finding themselves with no place to go most likely. It does not sound like they sexual predators! It is just an example of how college athletes are held to a higher standard. They have to be smarter.

I am far from an Ohio State fan and this is really a non story. Taking a leak in an alley and running when someone says “Hey!” is a few rungs down the ladder from stealing laptops and things of that ilk. Give them a small fine and some community service and everybody move on.

Urban bringing his SEC mentality to Ohio State!

  8. coachroy says: Jun 4, 2012 9:51 AM

Urban Meyer and his program really have nothing to do with this. Two college students who happen to be athletes got caught pissing in an alley for God’s sake! Give them some community service or require them to go to some AA meetings, it will help them grow up.

  9. ndrocks2 says: Jun 4, 2012 9:55 AM

Suspended indefinitely? Let’s see are these players any good? Answer YES welcome them back with open arms, answer NO kick them off and open up a schlorship, er wait, I mean set an example for the tough new stance OSU has set. Urban is well versed on how to handle these problems.

Taking a whiz in an alley ain’t likely to get your picture on the post office wall. I gather that they were at least discreet enough to look for the alley before letting it rain. It wasn’t all that long ago that an assistant coach at a Baptist University located not that far from here whupped it out at the bar of a Cajun food restaurant in Texas’ most Baptist town and made it rain. Like I said, it’s not that big of a deal…I’d be surprised if peeing in public is even a C misdemeanor in Ohio. In Texas, it would turn into a contest.

Did they zip up before they started running?

  12. kozbee says: Jun 4, 2012 10:45 AM

    Ask Dr. Lou.

  13. birdcen says: Jun 4, 2012 11:09 AM

yeah…SEC is the only conference that gets busted Big 10 guy. Urban is awesome! Congrats on that hire!

Big Ten: whip it out to take a leak.
SEC: whip it out to tea bag another man.

    Big Ten > SEC

  15. dexterismyhero says: Jun 4, 2012 1:01 PM

PacMan wants to know if you can make it rain……..again…………The Steelers should look into drafting these guys………

One is junior, the other a senior. They must be in their mid 20’s so drinking underage is not in the discussion

  17. mogogo1 says: Jun 4, 2012 2:15 PM

Let’s not forget that when Urban Meyer banned Twitter, Stoneburner tweeted about it. Based on that, it’s no surprise that when a cop told him to “stop” the first thing he thought to do was run. It’s clear the kid isn’t very bright and is incapable of following simple instructions.

  18. ukeone says: Jun 4, 2012 2:41 PM

One was a junior the other a senior…age to drink legally was not an issue…so, I guess it all boils down to “running away from the police when asked to stop”….right? And for this, the two get an ‘indefinite suspension?’ The punishment, in my opinion, doesn’t seem to fit the crime…this is too much. This situation has been blown way out of proportion…I just wonder what the punisment would have been if ‘they did stop what they were doing when told to…been approached by the cops…and they wet their pants in front of them? Would they have been charged with endangering or asault on a police officer? For God’s sake, they had to take a leak….slap their hands, give them a week to clean-out the lockerroom urinals and be done with it! Don’t ruin their careers over this!

  19. coachroy says: Jun 4, 2012 3:09 PM

Let’s move on to something important. I cannot even believe this much has been written about a couple of college athletes who had to piss when there was not a potty near. Maybe they should wear diapers
for a week! Oh then I suppose we would to potty train them over again!
Important stuff… Who is preseason #1?

  20. rickrock6661982 says: Jun 4, 2012 5:54 PM

Urban is only suspending them because he didn’t recruit them.

Same thing happened everywhere he went. Putting on a facade for the stupid. But when push comes to shove, he’ll break..especially for “his” guys

Same crap, different year in Columbus

  21. rickrock6661982 says: Jun 4, 2012 6:16 PM

You know that Urban Meyer is a pretty strict fellow.

He made former Gator Brandon Spikes sit out a whole HALF against juggernaut Vanderbilt after being caught trying to gauge a Georgia player’s eye out. Oh and let’s not forget Jarvis Moss who tested positive for drugs. Instead of being held out of the following game against South Carolina, Meyer chose to really teach him a lesson and kept him out against powerhouse Western Carolina.

So I’m guessing Stoneburner and Mewhort will miss the opening offensive series at best.

A worthy successor to Tressel after all.

  22. thefiesty1 says: Jun 4, 2012 6:46 PM

Meyer better put a stop to this kind of behavior, quickly. We wouldn’t want the program to go off course before he even coaches a game. NOT. Get over it.

  23. kozbee says: Jun 4, 2012 7:34 PM

Alot of Big 10 posters on here can`t figure out what Morals & Values are all about. If they were in your picture window looking in at your family taking a leak would you still feel the same.

  24. jmb795 says: Jun 4, 2012 9:30 PM

Reminds me of the Urb…except he fled Gainesville BEFORE he pissed all over them.

  25. dgutley says: Jun 5, 2012 5:11 AM

Once again, typical over-blown Buckeye hate and B10 hate by this site. This would have not appeared had it been any other conference affiliation. Shame on CFT for hyping this small story.

  26. Ben Kercheval says: Jun 5, 2012 9:29 AM

“Once again, typical over-blown Buckeye hate and B10 hate by this site.”

    We’ve been caught!

  27. jlc676 says: Jun 10, 2012 5:15 PM

Not exactly the crime of the century is it? As much as I despise what has been going on the last few years at OSU, I don’t think this story is newsworthy, much less something these kids should be suspended over.

  28. dkhhuey says: Jun 11, 2012 9:09 AM

I’m sorry but I didn’t see anywhere in the police report that had Urban Meyer pissing on the wall next to these kids nor did it state that they were on the phone with him asking his permission to take a whiz on the wall – so enough with the tossing this onto the blame Urban pile and grow up.
