Part of the quarterback rotation at Ole Miss in 2011, senior Zach Stoudt will unfortunately be unable to finish his collegiate career.
The school announced today that Stoudt will no longer play football for the Rebels due to “health-related issues.” The Clarion-Ledger adds that the so-called “issue” is related to a back problem that forced Stoudt to sit out the second half of spring practice.
Stoudt played in six games last season, starting four, but limited spring reps likely erased any chance of significant playing time this season. Bo Wallace and Barry Brunetti will continue to compete for the starting QB job.
Stoudt transfered from Iowa Western C.C., where went 58-of-120 for 559 yards with two touchdowns in 2011. However, he also threw eight interceptions. Before his time at Iowa Western, Stoudt played for Louisville, but never took a snap.
Fortunately, Stoudt will remain enrolled in the school and will have an opportunity to finish out his education.
