Former Mizzou LB killed in single car accident

Unfortunately, the trend of sad news over the past day or so continues with the untimely and tragic death of former Missouri linebacker Marcus Bacon.

The Houston Chronicle reports that Bacon, who played for the Tigers from 2002-06, was killed in a single-car accident on Friday in his hometown. The report states Bacon was driving southbound near the West 610 Loop when he drove over the curb and lost control of the vehicle. Bacon’s car then hit train tracks, which caused the vehicle to flip several times. There were no other passengers in the car and no one else was hurt. Alcohol doesn’t appear to have played a role in the accident, but witnesses say Bacon was driving at around 90 mph.

He was just 28 years old.

Bacon earned first-team all-Big 12 honors in his final year with Mizzou when he started 12 games and recorded 103 tackles with three sacks and two interceptions.

Our sincerest condolences go out to Bacon’s family and friends, as well as all those affected by his passing.
