Tulane DE no longer with the team following suspension

An early May arrest for attempting to sell marijuana and possessing a gun resulted in the suspension of Tulane defensive end Lawrence Burl. A little over a month later, the school announced that Burl was no longer with the team.

“Lawrence Burl is no longer a member of the Green Wave football team. Federal law bars Tulane from any discussion or disclosure of his status as a student,” a statement read.

A police report detailing the arrest stated Burl was stopped because he had a broken brake light and no license plate. Cops said Burl smelled of marijuana.

Burl, who redshirted last fall, is scheduled to be arraigned June 25 according to court records.
