Juror on Sandusky victims: ‘They were honestly telling us the truth’

Because of the fact that deliberations had stretched late into its second day, there were some who thought the jury hearing the case against Jerry Sandusky was on the verge of doing the unthinkable.

For the people who, in the end, ensured that the convicted pedophile will likely never experience another day of freedom for the remainder of his life, there was never really any doubt that they would return some measure of justice for the victims.

In fact, it was because of the testimonies of those witnesses during the two-week trial that Sandusky’s guilt on 45 of 48 counts was cemented in the minds of the jury.

“I didn’t find anything — that the way they spoke, the way they gave their testimony — that they were lying,” juror Joshua Harper told the Chicago Tribune. “They were honestly telling us the truth.”

Harper also said that Sandusky’s reaction, or lack thereof, further confirmed to the jury that it had made the right decision.

He knew it was true,” the high school chemistry teacher said according to the New York Times. “It made me feel confident that we made the right decision.”

By law, Sandusky, who is currently on suicide watch at the Centre County (Penn.) Correctional Facility, will be sentenced within 90 days of the verdict being rendered. He’s facing a maximum of 442 years behind bars.

As for what he may be facing once he’s actually behind bars? If his first night in jail is any indication...

As soon as the lights went out at night, Sandusky’s fellow inmates at the Centre County Correctional Facility serenaded him with a chorus from Pink Floyd’s “The Wall":

“Hey, teacher, leave those kids alone!”

For those seeking real-world justice, it appears Bubba has things well in hand.
