APInjuries are always setbacks, but off-the-field, avoidable ones have to hurt a little more.
Case in point: Ohio State running back Jordan Hall, who received a cut on the bottom of his right foot from stepping on a piece of glass while walking through grass outside his residence in Columbus.
Hall had successful surgery on Friday.
“Surgery went great doc said,” Hall tweeted Saturday morning.
Recovering from the injury will take around 10 weeks, coach Urban Meyer said via the Associated Press. Hall will be in a non-weight bearing cast for six weeks before beginning another four weeks or so of rehab. Ohio State’s fall camp starts in about five weeks and the Buckeyes season-opening game against Miami (OH) is on Sept. 1.
In theory, Hall’s recovery could push his 2012 debut to around mid-September, perhaps for the Sept. 15 game against Cal.
Hall was Ohio State’s No. 1 back in the team’s post-spring depth chart. Junior Carlos Hyde and sophomore Rod Smith should see more playing time early on given Hall’s injury.
