Utah RB goes on football hiatus for mission trip

Utah running back Harvey Langi was, according to coach Kyle Whittingham, having one of the better and most-improved springs of anyone with the Utes. However, Langi will be putting that potential on hold for the next two years.

The school announced over the weekend that Langi, slotted as the team’s backup running back, will be serving his LDS mission and heads to Florida later this month. He will rejoin the team in 2014.

Utah did not comment on the situation further as it is against school policy.

Langi had just 13 carries for 70 yards as a freshman last season, but the former four-star back was apparently making significant strides this offseason and could have been a nice compliment to the Utes’ primary back, John White IV.
