Thursday offseason one-liners

Ter'Ran Benton, Blake Bell AP

Meandering our way through the offseason minutia, a lone one-liner at a time…

– The Daily Oklahoman makes the case for Oklahoma State to unveil its version of the “Belldozer” package with J.W. Walsh.

Baltimore Sun: Eileen Edsall, wife of Maryland football coach, stands by her man.

– The fact that Hugh Freeze has been a “magician” throughout his coaching career should serve him well at Ole Miss.

– The Centre Daily Times writes that Penn State should forget Pitt, play West Virginia in football instead.

– At least for now, the state of Kansas “seems to be as important as anything” in head coach Charlie Weis‘ recruiting philosophy.

– Wide receiver Darren Waller gives an update on how Georgia Tech’s summer workouts are progressing.

– Headed into camp, East Carolina has a bit of a crowd at the quarterback position.

I am not sure I agree with the WV, Penn St. match up. Would have loved it last year, but not now. Maybe in a couple years when the Sandusky thing dies down.
I would not go to that game for any amount of money, at this time.
I, for one would rather they play Michigan, Wisconsin, or Michigan St. USC or Oregon would be nice. It would be nice to continue playing Pitt. but not Penn St.

Any thoughts on the Omaha.com article stating Penn State should be kicked from the Big Ten? Omaha.com/article-20120703/SPORTS/707039883

I do not believe that this crapola will go away until Penn. St. cleans house and brings in all new people.
If a person is being investigated, fire them. It is not a matter of if they are guilty. It is only a matter of how much guilt they share. Why on earth would Penn St. want any of these people in their school. Let’s just say it is not humane for them to stay.
I have a difficult time deciding if it is worse to rape a child, or if it is worse to watch and turn a blinds eye. Either way the child is raped and no one seems to care.

Even in Omaha, nobody pays much attention to Barfknecht. A couple of years ago, he attacked Boise State for not agreeing to an away-home-away series with Nebraska when the facts clearly showed Osbourne backed out. He tends to put Osbourne and Perlman way too high on a pedestal. Osbourne has done and continues to do great things for NU, but he does make mistakes. Perlman has been, and always will be, a snobby jackass.
