I really don’t think you can call what Alabama State is doing with Isaiah Crowell as a “risky gamble”. FCS and Division II schools frequently snap up talented-but-troubled cases like Crowell because it is usually the only way they can get such quality players. If he does well (and keeps his nose clean) then he becomes a huge boost for the program. If he doesn’t, then they are in the same position as they were before he came along. In these cases, there is little risk but huge potential gain.
Maybe they have a “Rehab” department in their football team.
