Getty ImagesIt’s one thing for a university to be vague concerning player injuries, but Mississippi State has taken it to a whole other level with tight end Malcolm Johnson.
In fact, to say the Commercial Appeal had enough for a blog post is stretching it. But, that’s MSU’s policy, and all anyone knows right now is that Johnson has an undisclosed injury that he sustained during a non-football related activity.
MSU football spokesperson Joe Galbraith declined to elaborate on any specifics of the injury due to what he cited as “team policy on injuries” and refused to comment on whether the injury was “upper body” or “lower body” related when asked by the media Wednesday afternoon.
MSU also would not disclose how long Johnson would be out.
The redshirt sophomore is already generating some buzz by being named to this year’s Mackey Award watch list. Johnson was responsible for 11 catches for 206 yards and three touchdowns last season.
Incidentally, the Bulldogs received news not one week ago that fellow tight end Marcus Green had received an additional year of eligibility from the NCAA after missing nearly full seasons with various injuries.
Yawn. I think we need an article now ripping Matt Millen for supporting Paterno this morning, and continuing to support him after he read the report. ESPN should consider firing him.
