Updated: TVs in PSU student center create moment of chaos over Freeh report

The Freeh report released this morning is every bit as damning to Joe Paterno and Penn State’s administration as it was expected to be -- if not more so. The fact that Paterno and others were aware of a 1998 investigation of former defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky related to grooming a child for sexual abuse is just one of the several areas of a mass cover-up.

A press conference from lead investigator Louis Freeh -- which you can watch HERE -- was about to air on the large TV in the Penn State student center. But then, something happened, per the Philadelphia Inquirer.

But, just as an anchor was ready to speak about the report, the television screens suddenly went blank. They then turned to a public access channel featuring a reporter from The Morning Call newspaper in Allentown about the state budget.

Everyone watching suddenly went scrambling to find a way to switch the channel back at the student center, known as the HUB-Robeson Center Facility, or simply, “the Hub.”

...

Several students went to speak with a student working at the main desk at the student center. But the student said a university employee was in charge of what is broadcast. That person, the student said, was in a meeting and could not be reached.

OnwardState would go on to report that the TV was being changed to PCN, which was set to air the press conference at 10 a.m. ET.

In the end, it appears the situation was much ado about nothing, but for a moment, there was a bit of panic for those wishing to watch.
