ASU LB signs with Red Sox, but will play for Sun Devils in ’12

Players selected in this past year’s MLB draft are still signing with their respective teams.

Adding to that list is Arizona State linebacker Brandon Magee, who was selected in the 23rd around by the Boston Red Sox. According to the Arizona Daily Star, Magee has indeed signed with Boston, but will continue to play for the Sun Devils this fall.

Magee has been drafted twice before Tampa Bay Rays and Oakland Athletics.

“I made a decision to play with the Red Sox but my decision making is far from over,” Magee said. “They are still letting me pursue my football career and letting me go to the NFL, there’s a lot more to come.”

The fifth-year senior sat out all of last season with a ruptured Achilles tendon, but had a solid 2010 campaign with 11 starts and a career-high 73 tackles.
