As for the transfer issue: under normal circumstances Bammers and Barners alike would be ripping in to each other over it. But such is the dark cloud hanging over all of college football right now from the Freeh Report on Penn State and the Sandusky case that even the Paul Finebaum Show has had practically nothing mentioned about it by callers the last two days. Who would have thought such an insane situation in Pennsylvania would bring some sanity back to Alabama?

In any event, I really don’t know why anyone would be surprised by this. These recruits give verbals committments out like Halloween candy, then change when it can garner them more attention. It means nothing until they sign on the dotted line the first week of February. Otherwise, it’s just something to keep things stirred up until the start of the season (seven long weeks away).

Alabama and Georgia used to play every year in the early days of the SEC, but that changed sometime in the mid-60s. Since then, they only play on a rotation, and until the league went to a 5-1-2 schedule about ten years ago, they only met for a home-and-home about every eight years. They last met in ’07-’08 and were supposed to play in Tuscaloosa this year and Athens in ’13, but expansion has pushed that off for at least a year. Now that the SEC has decided to stick with an eight-game league schedule and go to a 6-1-1 format for now, matchups between ‘Bama and Georgia (as well as all other Eastern Division teams not named Tennessee for the Tide, and Western Division teams not named Auburn for the ‘Dawgs) will only happen twice every ten years.

Bama has only played Notre Dame 6 times… hardly the basis for a “storied” history. There are at least 2 other SEC teams with more history.

Since the conversation has taken a turn, just want to be clear that when I said Georgia wasn’t on our radar, I was talking about traditional rivalries–not insulting Georgia. Bama rarely plays Georgia, while Auburn, Tennessee, and LSU are annual games. And there’s storied history behind the Notre Dame thing.

I guess I am supposed to comment about your childish comments you just posted, but I really don’t care much about what you say anyway. The fact still stands that now, even Auburn got a recruit to flip from you guys and that is what this article is about. I am glad the kid made the decision to what is best for his family, since he will now be close enough to his mom, to have her help him raise his young child. As for whether or not you think your team keeps an eye on Georgia or not, we will most likely find out in Atlanta later this year. I doubt you speak for the Alabama team though, so you might want to check with them first.

As an Auburn fan, LSU is my least favorite team. A loss to them stings more than any other. I respect what Alabama has done to hate them, but they would be my third least favorite team to lose to, with Georgia coming in second.

I too grew up in Alabama, and I can tell you for a fact no Bammers have any time for Georgia, they are not even an afterthought. I dont know where you get this nonsense, Georgia is not that relevant.

A few Bammers making noise on AJC means nothing. You guys are even below Miss St in the pecking order for Bama fans, so stop flattering yourself.

And my brother moved to Alabama and married himself a Bama grad … who came with excellent gameday parking passes

Thats understandable why your a Bama fan,Now i was born and raised in Alabama just south of Auburn and thats why i like Auburn as i do.But now my daughter got married to a college kid that was going to Bama for his degree.Well my daughter got married to him and so as it goes she went to Bama for her DR. of Medicine degree.So now on Ironbowl weekend it gets pretty loud here at my house.Anyways Bama would be my 3rd best team.My dad went to Arkansas and so that is who i root for on Saturday,yes im a razorback fan ..

My dad and most of my family are from Alabama. Was born into a Tide household and grew up a Tide fan. Chose Missouri because it was the best school for my major and am proud of the education I received there. But Bama’s in the blood

No, I don’t mean Georgia Tech. If not for the fact that the stupid state senate in Georgia made it mandatory, UGA would probably only play GT about once every 4 years or so. The rivalry really isn’t there anymore. The hate is, mostly because they think they are an elite group, but that is the only reason. It is becoming the annual turkey day beat down for Georgia Tech.

The whole state of Georgia is on Alabama’s mind. You should visit that famous Georgia paper, the AJC, and there are usually more Alabama people on the comments than UGA’s mind. If both UGA and Alabama win their division and play in Atlanta, you aren’t going to tell me that until the end of the season, Alabama will not be thinking about their opponent in the SECCG. Alabama may hate Auburn more, but there is no love lost on either side of the border by either school or the fans of that school. It is probably a little more healthy,than the hate you have for your instate rival, but don’t kid yourself.

Last season Bama did get a good RB from Auburn but from what the Tigers are putting together as a solid defense T.J isnt going to find many holes to get through .Foster is going to be a big headache for any QB and RB and plus looks like Adams may be heading to the plains.That imo is going to be a great DL for Auburn.I look for Auburn to be a big surprise this season and next season be in the running for another NC.Alot of happy Auburn fans on the plains and wish them the best cause they are my second best team in the SEC and i hope them the best till signing day.Recruiting Lawson,Liner and Bower also looks like 2013 the Tigers will have one of the best if not the best DL in college football.Goodluck Tigers.
