By most accounts, freshman wide receiver Alton Howard was impressing his Tennessee teammates during voluntary summer workouts. Perhaps, Howard could have made an immediate impact on the field this fall.
That’ll have to wait.
Howard underwent foot surgery Friday, and according to a school spokesperson via govolsextra.com, is expected to rejoin the team at some point during the early portion of the regular season.
As a result, though, he’ll miss preseason camp.
Howard was a four-star recruit as part of Tennessee’s 2012 class.

Man, sure hope that receiver’s got a great team of podiatrists working on that foot of his. It’s really hard to get an injury in the sport he’s in.
