At least the normalcy of the offseason — you know, arrests and such — hasn’t been completely lost.
South Florida wide receiver Jordan Duval was arrested Friday night on a felony charge of grand theft after being accused by campus police of stealing an iPhone from the basketball courts of USF’s rec center, according to the Tampa Bay Times.
According to USF police, an unnamed USF student reported an iPhone stolen from the rec center around 7:30 p.m. Friday, and in using a phone-locator application from a friend’s phone, was able to give police the GPS coordinates of the phone’s last location. Police said people at that address directed them to Duval, who had stripped the phone of its case and its subscriber identity module or SIM card, an action that keeps a phone from being tracked.
Davis, a walk-on sophomore (Yes, we know. Bottom of the barrel. Sue us.), was booked into county jail and later released on $2,000 bond. Because the phone carries a $730 value, the charge was deemed a felony.
USF has yet to comment on the situation.
Appearing in two games last season, Davis failed to record any stats.
Come on, give the kid a break. He was going to return it as soon as he got done talking to the folks back home.
I would steal an iphone just to get a story written about me on collegefootballtalk.com. Is that wrong?
I think there might be better ways to become the featured person on a web site about football myself.
iphone…really? Everyone knows that THE phone to lift is the new Samsung Galaxy SIII, with it’s 4.8″ Amoled screen, 1.5 dual core processor, S-Voice capabilities, 8.0 megapixel camera and of course android’s 4.0 Ice cream sandwhick OS! Geez!!!!
