Gene Chizik doesn’t shed much light on possible Zeke Pike return

SEC Championship Football AP

A late-June departure for his home state of Kentucky brought about several questions as to whether Auburn quarterback Zeke Pike would be Auburn quarterback Zeke Pike for much longer.

Tigers coach Gene Chizik didn’t exactly provide any more insight about Pike’s future on Wednesday during SEC media days, either. Pike was charged with public intoxication last month.

“We have certain standards and expectations of our guys,” Chizik said. “That’s why I sent him home.”

As for whether Pike will eventually come back to Auburn, Chizik replied “We’ll make that decision… Right now, he’s at home and he’ll remain there.”

Tough to tell where Chizik is leaning on this issue, but you never want to have your fate in someone else’s hands and that’s exactly what Pike is facing right now.

    Hopefully he’ll get his head on straight and apologize to the rest of the team.

    Good thing he’s not playing at Alabama, otherwise he’d be a celebrated hero.

    Gene did the right thing.Some kids have a bright future ahead of them and could become Rich right out of college,but then some could care less.Pike get it together cause this just might be your only chance to become something or throw it all away for a night on the town.If you give up football you can make a living catching catfish with your arm.

    @kozbee
    I LOVED THE “NOODLING” REMARK!!!
    I almost fell off my chair… He certainly behaves that way. The kid was my favorite up and coming but he’s blowing it right before our very eyes. That fine the. JJ is in the office at 7am practically every morning looking at films from what I hear. That’s the kind of young QB’S we need. Not some bird brain that doesnt have enough sense to just stay home if he’s had a few… QB’S make decisions. Good ones. So what’s wrong w/ your picture Zeke. Better get it together if CGC gives you another chance. That is if they don’t break you up physically on the way back in. Bet he’ll know how many steps are in the entire stadium by the Tim he ever makes it to the field.

    One thing the SEC doesn`t need is another drunk QB playing football.And by the way there was a fair in Alabama a few years ago and had a large swimming pool with some rocks and wood piled up in the bottom.They offered anyone that could get that old catfish out of the pool.It nearly tore my arm off and i`ll never go in the water doing such a stupid thing ever again lol.They could actually make a sport out of that.Hope the best for Auburn in the next couple seasons.
