Ex-Ohio State, Bama WR Duron Carter looking at FAU?

The last anyone officially heard of Alabama wide receiver Duron Carter, he was sitting out spring practice because of a suspension. Since then, the rumor mill has churned out a Nick Saban quote or three about Carter’s unlikely future with the team.

According to one report from FAUOwlAccess.com, Carter is already looking at another school, FAU:

According to the source, Carter recently applied for admission to FAU, but has yet to be accepted. He is also in the process of petitioning the NCAA for a transfer waiver, which would keep him from having to sit out a year before playing.

Carter is hoping to receive the exemption because he would be transferring to be close to his family. Cris Carter has been a South Florida resident for nearly two decades.

A transfer to the Owls, or any place for that matter, would be Carter’s third major collegiate stop. If he is granted a waiver by the NCAA, he will have two years of eligibility remaining. Likewise, if the waiver is denied, he will sit out the 2012 season and have one year of eligibility left.

The son of NFL wide receiver Chris Carter began his career at Ohio State, but academic issues would ultimately cut his time in Columbus short. He transferred briefly to Coffeyeville (Kansas) Community College before arriving in Tuscaloosa.
