I agree he should have gone to the police – but he DID go to his superiors (and stopped Sandusky immediately).

But when the Athletic Director attempted to go to the Police HIS boss told him not to do so.

HIS BOSS of course was Joe Paterno.

Penn State fans may want to try to delude themselves that Paterno was not the head of the Penn State mafia family, but everyone else knows the truth.

Paterno didn’t want an Athletic Director at all – and only accepted it when he could hand select the AD. The AD did nothing without Paterno’s approval – and refrained from contacting the police at Paterno’s behest.

Read the Freeh Report and stop deluding yourselves Penn State fans!

If not for Paterno’s actions, the assistant coach’s report to the AD would have resulted in police involvement.

As for the rest of you, again the Freeh report is just a report..a mans opinion..a man who covered up numerous things while in charge himself. Look at Waco, Ruby Ridge, and something thats personal to me..TWA 800. Im not saying Penn st is innocent, not in the slightest. Im saying, why are so many taking this report as fact when the person who did the report has little credibility..oh, so they put “judge” in front of his name and that makes it absolute?! HA. Please. How about we await what comes out during the trial, where the info will have to undergo scrutiny as to its credibility as fact, rather than just taking someones word on it. PS they didnt even interview McQueary, and ignore certain facts…like the 98 case not being prosecuted. What is a football coach supposed to do when charges are alleged but not proven..should he have just jumped to conclusion? But it sounds like they haven’t even read the Freeh report – nor did the family have access to the thousands of emails that Paterno sent confirming he knew of the allegations and quashed law enforcement involvement.

I find it difficult to believe that they can do a more thorough job than the former FBI Director.

It’s sad – but because Paterno put his own legacy ahead of that of children, THAT is now his legacy.

Paterno made a choice to make a mockery of his own adage “Winning with Honor” when he turned a blind eye to the sexual abuse of children, and thus sealed his legacy.

You go explain that half ass excuses to the victims. Explain to them that Joe paterno was a victim and even though he knew what was going on and did absolutely nothing to stop them. Look each victim in the eye and tell them it was a conspiracy against Joe pa. You don’t think those people would be angry if they knew that he turned a blind eye because winning , his legacy, and football meant more than there innocence. Look them in the eye when they tell you they were bleeding from behind because Joe pa did the right thing keeping it in house. That is why people are angry and have every right to be angry at a guy who allowed a child molester to freely roam that campus doing whatever he wanted. Parents trusted in second mile which was Joe Paterno and Penn State brand to help the children out, Instead they allowed a pedophile to roam around campus with unlimited access, raping those kids. And all he freaking cared about was his legacy and his friendship to Jerry Sandusky, and not kids who were victimized by his ignorance. He is getting exactly what he deserves, his legacy means ABSOLUTELY nothing compared to the kids that were assaulted by HIS COACH AND FRIEND. His legacy and penn state football meant more than a few kids being raped.

As painful as this is for the family…This is no longer sympathy for any of the administrative staff who did not call the officials that would have investigated immediately. They let it slide and gave Sandusky another several years to sexually molest little boys who are now adults and will have to live withthis for the rest of their lives,

I am proud of the NCAA for coming down hard. The NCAA did what the school should have done years ago.

We will never know why JoPa, Spanier, Curly or any other administrators chose to do the “humane” thing for Sandusky and totally lost their moral compasses that little boys were being raped by a slithering, nasty, old pedophile. My thoughts are with the victims and institutional punishment for covering it all up for so long.

Did the family know that Joe had the capacity to be so devious and corrupt? Apparently not. What input could the Paterno family provide. Strike 1.

This might be the funniest thing ever written. If Joe were alive, he would say:
“Where’s me Jello. Who is this Sanduskey fellow”?

It took both a tremendous amount of nerve and delusion for the Paterno Family to make that statement. The PSU Board of Trustees abidicated their responsibility 14 years ago as did their father.

I accept, understand and genuinely feel sorry that the Paterno family is suffering–and they are suffering–through the man they loved being torn down because he was an egomaniac. What I can’t understand nor sympathize with is that the family continues to release idiotic statements, statements said without a hint of irony yet are so ironic that they could be used as an example of irony. The Paterno Family may want to consider either hiring, if they have not, or dismissing, if they have hired, a public relations representative to review and revise any statement which they wish to release.

You can denigrate the Freeh report, you can bitch and moan until the cows come home.

And you know what?

None of your protestations will change a thing.

PSU is being punished, and rightfully so.

Personally, I don’t think the penalties are severe enough. I would have shut your football team down for 14 years, which, coincidentally is the exact amount of time that St. Joe choose to protect his pedophile ass raping friend.

Joe Paterno allowed someone to rape children on his watch………..and he knew about it for years.

That is the legacy of Joe Paterno.
