Don’t kid yourself. I HATE very few things, but I HATE what Penn State did. But Penn State is not dead in the water. They are still going to be tough. The NCAA should have put that Lion down, but they didn’t. That will be huge when Penn State beats a team with a chance to do something. Not nearly enough was done by the NCAA. John Feinstein said that on the Jim Rome show today and he was right.

Now is the time for the genius sports writers to tell us what is right and wrong. Yeah!

  3. eyeh8goodell says: Jul 23, 2012 10:40 PM

Yeah there are some great one liners coming in already.

The Paterno statue will henceforth be placed in the library as a reminder for everybody to keep quiet.

    Hiiiiiiyyyyyyyoooooooooohhhh!!!!!

    Now That is COMEDY!

  5. hbgman224 says: Jul 23, 2012 11:04 PM

NCAA went too far. Too many innocent people on campus and off are being hurt. I
can’t believe the administration “accepted” the sanctions without a fight. Such spineless, pandering wimps! They AREN’T Penn State.

  6. twoliveted says: Jul 23, 2012 11:15 PM

All I know is with Penn State and Ohio State ineligible this year, Wisconsin only needs to beat Indiana, Illinois, and Purdue to make the Big Ten title game. ON Wisconsin!

The Governor should also fire the entire board of trustees and appoint a new BOT. Start over from scratch. Anybody and everybody associated with Penn State over the last 14 years needs to disappear.

  8. dannythebisforbeast says: Jul 23, 2012 11:35 PM

Uh yeah one of those people would be the governor. Former attorney general who took like 3 years to charge Sandusky. Yea so ask him to replace himself

  9. dannythebisforbeast says: Jul 23, 2012 11:52 PM

    Hbgman correct

Spineless is one of the nicer words I would use

At best head in the sand last dozen years at worst guilty as much or more than anyone else. Wouldn’t stand up to Paterno According to public opinion. Wouldnt stand up for Paterno according to fans and alum. Wouldn’t make a bold decision on the statue right or wrong.
Wouldn’t stand up to the NCAA and fed the school fans an alumni to them.

There is a thing called due process. Did not happen here say what you want. Sandusky had his day in court. PSU did not.

Board said you can kill everything about Paterno but we all keep our jobs and positions. Ultimate CYA.

I saw nothing in freeh report that warrants Paterno being stripped of wins- not that wins are that important as the situation in general.

Please don’t speak about freeh being impartial and beyond reproach. He has been accused of cover ups of Waco investigation and other investigations while running the FBI. he is a tight ally of governor Corbett and had all intentions of limiting exposure to the media darlings paterno Spanier and company.

There is so much more that will NEVER come to light because everyone will be satisfied that PSU is in shambles.
If anyone seriously cared about the victims. Second mile would be federally investigated because that’s where children were funneled to pedophiles.
Believe me I am not saying PSU does not deserve severe penalties but to me there are so many stones unturned.

Why does Erickson who was VP to Spanier for 14 Years still have a voice and position? Everyone says Sandusky had an office down hall paterno he had to have known.
Erickson worked day in day out with Spanier te WHOLE time. He had no knowledge? I don’t buy it

We will never know because his last name is Erickson and not Paterno.

NOW IS THE TIME FOR THE PENN STATE COMMUNITY TO RISE UP AND MAKE REAL CHANGE not media driven
    LYnch mob mentality.

It was only a small percentage of the total number of children. Ask Jo pa’s family. Not that big a deal.

  11. twoliveted says: Jul 23, 2012 11:57 PM

the main issue I have is that the only people these penalties affect are the innocent student athletes and psu staff unaware of the situation. those kids who put in all the work and effort don’t deserve those wins taken away. additionally, what happened didn’t affect on field performance. imo usc and ohio state deserved more ON FIELD penalties than psu because their issues directly dealt with the athletes themselves.

When are they going to find out about the Sandusky murders?

Where did that 1st known victim ever turn up? Oh right he didn’t.
Anyone think Jerry wouldn’t/didn’t silence a threat at some point over the years?

Just give it a few years it will all come out and this will go from bad to infinitly worse.

Marinade on that likely reality for a bit PSU’ers
    Could it get worse?
Oh yes, it can, so much worse, and a reasonable chance it will someday.

  13. mungman69 says: Jul 24, 2012 3:02 AM

Why doesn’t Penn St get it? Can never root for you again.

  14. elchief157 says: Jul 24, 2012 4:15 AM

Sandusky should get the death penalty

  15. rickrock6661982 says: Jul 24, 2012 4:19 AM

I actually felt a tiny bit sympathetic towards Penn State….until the Paternos just had to butt-in again

  16. gmsingh says: Jul 24, 2012 6:54 AM

The new S.I. cover page: a picture of Kate Upton and a picture of Penn State with the caption “Who has the bigger boobs?”

  17. gmsingh says: Jul 24, 2012 7:50 AM

Five words: more Paterno family statements please.

  18. goodellmustgo says: Jul 24, 2012 7:59 AM

Don’t forget NAMBLA naming Penn State the most influential university in the last 150 years.

  19. paperlions says: Jul 24, 2012 8:08 AM

I love the “too many innocent people are being hurt” by the NCAA sanctions comments. Hurt? Your football team won’t be as good as you had hoped? So….you are “hurt”? Get over yourselves. It will be business as usual for everyone in, around, and associated with PSU EXCEPT that their football team won’t be as good as they are used to….that it, that is the entire difference. The stadium will still be full…everything else will still be the exact same.

  20. paperlions says: Jul 24, 2012 8:10 AM

Hacks like Rosenberg are part of the problem he is bitching about. He complains that the focus will now be on the NCAA sanctions instead of the crimes and victims and, you know, important things. Well, guess what Michael, it is that exact culture and poor perspective (such as yours) that led to this situation…..valuing sports teams over everything.

The NCAA sanctions don’t have to be the focus, but they are the focus because people like Rosenberg CHOOSE to focus on them….because they actually care more about sports than anything else.

  21. paperlions says: Jul 24, 2012 8:13 AM

Anyone (like Mandel) that things Emmert overstepped his bounds or authority simply isn’t paying attention. Emmert didn’t make these decisions by himself. Everyone associated with the decision-making process in the NCAA and PSU agreed with this decision. Being a member of the NCAA is not a right, the NCAA could have chosen to kick PSU out and STILL been within the bounds of their authority.

  22. dkhhuey says: Jul 24, 2012 8:36 AM

@eye – BRILLIANT!!! That is one of the best comments I’ve seen on the boards!

  23. fstapleford says: Jul 24, 2012 9:58 AM

If God is a Penn State fan, then why is my ass black and blue?

  24. mgmac says: Jul 24, 2012 11:52 AM

good morning psu fans & paterno family! how are you all doing today?! It’s going to be a great day!
