Randy Shannon reportedly headed to TCU

Randy Shannon AP

When TCU linebackers coach Tony Tademy resigned earlier this month to spend more time with his family, former Miami coach Randy Shannon‘s name was instantly connected to the opening.

Turns out the connection has come to fruition — reportedly.

Both the Fort Worth Star-Telegram and Chuck Carlton of the Dallas Morning News are reporting that Shannon will indeed be the new LBs coach for the Horned Frogs.

Shannon coached the Hurricanes from 2007-10. It would be a solid addition if true.

The Horned frogs.. Says it all for sorry ass Shannon.

Terrible coach ( ANYBODY that etched him at UM could see this in five minutes)
Terrible recruiter. There was the complete bust 08’s and his rankings steadily slid after that.
It’s hard for a LB coach to destroy a program like he did as HC so the Mighty Horned Frogs are safe in that respect. But after he was canned there was a torrent of media backlash describing what an arrogant, misplaced, absent asshole he was. Good luck with that guy TCU. And by the way, a blind fool could have coached those defenses he had as a coordinator.

    Randy “The Youtube recruiter” Shannon?

He was a decent defensive coordinator, but he was clearly over his head as a head coach. There were many, including myself, that thought that Shannanigan needed to go around the coaching carousel a little more before taking a head coaching position. He neglected the local schools by letting players get away, he alienated future and current players, he was a very inflexible and very unpersonable and came off as overly brash and with some type of agenda.

All of these things culminated into a very bad locker room situation

Attention TCU: Do not let Randy be the head coach or recruit for your team. This will avoid setting your program back and burning bridges with the local high schools.
    Truly yours,
    Every intelligent Cane fan…

That’s what I already said. Of course I don’t snort cane Kool-Aid so I didn’t sugar coat it like you sort of did.

He was a sideline, practice field, recruiting, and locker room cancer. Oh, and he was also the head coach.

Canefan spent YEARS harping about what a wonderful recruiter and coach this fool was. The unbiased eye could see IMMEDIATELY that he had no business running a team. Of course, the unbiased eye wasn’t reeling from years of beat-downs and program erosion like U were.

It seems that the people that hate Shannon are over reacting a bit.

Gary Patterson is one of top head coaches in college football and Dick Bumpas is one of the top defensive coordinators.

Shannon is coming in to coach Linebackers and try to rebuild his career.

Everyone is acting like his influence on the defense is going to over shadow and overwhelm Patterson and Bumpas. That is absolutely ridiculous.

I didn’t sugar coat anything, nor was I harping anything, foolah.
