Trojans could lose starting end to season-ending pec injury

Devon Kennard, Nick Montana AP

Even as USC courts a player on the offensive side of the ball who could bolster its title aspirations, a current player on the other side of the ball has reportedly suffered an injury that could prove costly.

ESPNLosAngeles.com reported very early Friday morning that defensive end Devon Kennard suffered a torn pectoral muscle during a weightlifting session recently.  A source close to the player told the website that Kennard is expected to miss at least 2-3 months and could miss the entire season, depending on the extent of the injury.

The senior is expected to undergo surgery at some point next week.

USC has yet to address the injury or Kennard’s status for the upcoming season.

The loss of Kennard to a unit that’s already thin depth-wise would be significant, with the website writing that it would be “a crushing blow.”  The Orange County Register wrote that it “would be a big blow to USC’s championship aspirations.”

After an injury-plagued start to his USC career, Kennard came out of spring practice as one of the starters at end.

HA! I was wondering who would be the first scumbag/douchebag to relate an injury of a player at another school to “Karma” for going recruiting a player from Penn State. Congrats cowboy88….you are that Douche!

You do realize that would be as scummy as someone saying any injury for the next 100 or so years to a Penn State player would be karma for Paterd-O right?

Translation to the Patermites: Anyone relating any injury to ANY player from Penn State or ANY other school to this scandal is a clueless A-hole.

Additionally, the only proper use of the word “karma” would have been Joe Paterd-O being raped in prison while a guard, who could have easily prevented it, was looking the other way.

Speaking of which……can we have Sandusky transferred to Colorado? Does he like orange/red?

Guy’s been injured his whole career. At least he has his degree already and kept above a 3.0, which is more than I can say for most college football players.

Not a USC fan but hate to hear when anyone gets hurt and can’t play.

Disapointing, Kennard could have been our best pass rusher this season. Hopefully he recovers quickly and can get back in there.

that said, Breslin/Greene should be alright.

Isn’t it about time for Kiffen to quit or be fired and move somewhere else? What gives? Thumbs down if you love Jerry Sandusky.
