APA promising talent will not end up competing for Auburn’s quarterback job this fall after all.
After being sent home earlier this summer by coach Gene Chizik for getting charged with public intoxication, freshman quarterback Zeke Pike will not be returning to The Plains. Chizik confirmed Wednesday after the Tigers’ first fall practice that Pike is not part of the team and will transfer, although it’s not known to where.
It was reported earlier by al.com that Pike was no longer with the team.
Chizik added that defensive back Jonathan Rose is also not part of the team and will transfer, following up on reports from late last month.
“They’re not with our football team anymore. Their intent is to transfer to another school. We wish them the best,” Chizik said.
Both players came to Auburn as decorated recruits, but Pike was in contention for the starting quarterback position as of this spring. Whether or not he would have been this fall was yet to be seen, and obviously, now it never will be.
Maybe he should go to Southern California. Most highly rated recruits who are fragile and do not want to work hard go there. Maybe he can learn to cheat his way to the top. USC is a good teacher for that.
All of this USC hate… SC is doing the same thing everyone else did as soon as they got hit with sanctions… I promise Kiffin is no dummy..
All of this USC hate… SC is doing the same thing that was done to them when they got hit with their sanctions… Players started transferring and what not..Promise you Kiffin is no dummy…
And apparently I had to say it twice
When u say no to me bad things happen…signed Brady Hoke..aka HOKEAMANIAAAAA
Wonder how many times Brady Hoke ate Chick-Fil-A today?
Let’s get 1 thing straight about Pike & USC. Hes not good enough to go to SC. That’s why he wasn’t recruited to go there also he’s just the type of QB the SEC teams get talent wise….. Let’s look at all the players Bama ,auburn have kicked out in the past 2 seasons. 11 national championships. 7 Heismans USC has had more players (473), and more 1st round NFL Draft picks (75) than any other college. 162 Trojans have been selected to the NFL Pro Bowl, while a Trojan has played in all but two Super Bowls.
Well that proves it. USC is the greatest football team of all time.
@lilrock9…
QBs that played in the SEC as far as talent wise?? How many SEC qbs starts in an NFL team right now? And how many from the might PAC12 and B1G?
There’s Eli and, what’s his brother’s name??
Stafford, and then there’s that Bear’s QB from Vandy I believe … Can’t think of his name either… More then likely Flynn in Seattle.
And you know when your boy Sanchez screws up? There’s a big shirtless Gator right behind him people will be mania for.
Newton didn’t do that bad either as a rookie.
Shoot!! I forgot Palmer is still playing in LA.., two for you. Make it four with Alex Smith with the whiners, I mean Niners.. No,… Only you only got three, you can’t count Smith because Utah was not part of either conference yet..
I know I’m missing more starters from the SEC … I just can’t think right now and am too lazy to turn the damn computer on.. You check for me and complete the list, thanks.
That wad awesome.
Come to Texas, please.
For whatever reason, Rose was not getting any playing time, can understand him wanting to go elsewhere and try and get on the field.
With Pike, seems like there is more going on there than getting caught one time for underage drinking. If all college age kids that drink underage were sent home, the campuses would be pretty empty.
I don’t know the kid, but best of luck to him wherever he winds up.
Yeah that Lane Kiffin boy is “no dummy” lemme tell ya:
