APSome bad news for Kentucky as the Wildcats begin preseason practices. Coach Joker Phillips told the media Friday that projected starting cornerback Marcus Caffey will not play this season because he is academically ineligible.
Phillips added that senior safety Martavius Neloms will move to corner to pick up the slack.
Caffey redshirted last season as a tailback, but made what was by all accounts a successful transition to cornerback and was slated to start in the secondary for the Wildcats this season.
Just a tough break for a team that already figures to have another tough season ahead of them.
Joker is on his way out!
Wait a minute. A KENTUCKY player being ACADEMICALLY ineligible and he doesn’t play for Calipari? Has to be a ‘typo’, Ben.
Mark Emmert where are you? This is YOUR JOB! 2 YEAR BOWL BAN! Oh wait they would not make a bowl anyhow..
You have to be kidding me. How stupid do you have to be to actually flunk out school in the SEC. For most “schools” in this conference, academics is just an excuse to play football.
