Third ACL tear in three years to sideline UW’s Deontae Cooper

Deontae Cooper

“Sometimes life ain’t fair” they always say.  Exhibits A, B and C on that front? Deontae Cooper.

In August of 2010, the Washington running back tore the ACL in his left knee and missed the season.  July of last year, he suffered the same injury to the same knee and missed a second consecutive season.

Unbelievably, it’s happened again.

In a statement, Huskies head coach Steve Sarkisian confirmed that Cooper suffered a torn ACL “while participating in a non-contact drill during practice” Tuesday.  This time, however, the injury was to his right knee.

“Deontae has done everything we have asked of him, and has been an example to his teammates with his hard work in the classroom, and the dedication he showed in returning from two previous ACL surgeries in his left knee,” the statement from the coach read. “Our football program will do everything we can to support him in this tough time.”

A four-star member of UW’s 2010 recruiting class, Cooper was rated as the No. 10 10 running back in the country by

I’m sorry to hear this. I for one hate to hear storiers like this. Just plan bad luck. No one deserves to have to go through this.

Don’t give up, maybe you can come back from this one and get back to doing what you worked so hard to do.
